HANOVER, N.H. ? Trailing 24-7 in the third quarter, the Dartmouth JV team got touchdowns from freshmen Chris Hardy (Dayton, Ohio) and Brad Dornak (Austin, Texas), but could muster no more in a 24-20 defeat against Bridgton Academy on Sunday afternoon at Memorial Field. The jayvees concluded their schedule with the loss, going 1-3 this fall.
Junior Max Heiges (Tiburon, Calif.) threw for 131 yards, completing 10-of-22 passes, plus ran for a touchdown, and freshman Dan Rooney (Pittsburgh, Pa.) chipped in 49 passing yards by completing 5-of-7. His 32-yard touchdown toss to Dornak got the Big Green with four early in the fourth quarter. The running game was headed up by Hardy, who averaged three yards on his 19 carries with a three-yard score as well.
Freshman Diego Fernandez-Soto (Miami, Fla.) intercepted a pass on Bridgton's opening drive, and Heiges converted the turnover into a one-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Bridgton roared back with the next 21 points before the half, then the visitors tacked on a field goal after the intermission to take a 17-point lead.

Heiges directed a 66-yard drive with two completions of 11 yards to junior James O'Brien (Englewood, Colo.) and another for 18 yards to sophomore Tanner Scott (Kenilworth, Ill.). Hardy pushed his way through the line for his three-yard score, and senior Chuck Zodda (Framingham, Mass.) added the extra point to make the score 24-14.
Freshman Anthony DiBlasi (Miami, Fla.) picked off a pass early in the fourth quarter, giving the Big Green the ball at the Brigdton 34. Two plays later, Rooney connected with Dornak on the 32-yard scoring strike. The extra point, however, banged off the left upright, leaving the deficit at four with 12:12 to play.
Dartmouth's last opportunity to take the lead was denied when a Heiges pass near the Big Green 40 was tipped then intercepted.
Fernandez-Soto led the defense with 11 tackles, and O'Brien led all receivers with four catches for 68 yards.
