Clemis Earns Third-Straight Shutout with Win Over Rensselear

HANOVER, N.H. ? Senior Carli Clemis (Taber, Alta.) became the first Dartmouth goaltender to record three-consecutive shutouts as the fifth-ranked women's hockey team defeated Rensselaer, 5-0, to sweep its first home conference weekend of the season.

Clemis posted 22 saves in net and has not given up a goal in 184:10, which is also a Dartmouth all-time record. The Big Green had a balanced offensive attack with five different goal scorers. Freshman Moira Scanlon (Chicago, Ill.) tallied her first collegiate goal, while senior Katie Gray (Calgary, Alta.) posted her third goal of the season and third in the last two games.

Dartmouth (5-0-0, 4-0-0 ECAC Hockey) jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead with two goals coming just nine seconds apart in the first minute of play. Senior Shannon Bowman (Leamington, Ont.) added her first of the season, 29 seconds into the opening period. She took the puck from the left circle, drove hard to the net and slid the puck past Rensselaer's goaltender Sonja van der Bliek to give the Big Green an early lead. Van der Bliek posted 23 saves in the lost for the Engineers.

Sophomore Amanda Trunzo (Andover, Minn.) extended her goal streak to four games with her fifth of the season, just nine seconds after Bowman's tally.

Junior Sarah Toupal (White Bear Lake, Minn.) closed out the scoring for Dartmouth in the opening period with her first of the season, coming with 2:07 left in the period.

The Big Green added two more in the third to push the lead to 5-0. Scanlon posted the first goal of her career on a slap shot from the blue line that found its way through traffic and into the net. Gray, who had an excellent weekend, tallied her third score of the season and of the weekend with six minutes left in the second period.

Rensselaer (5-5-1, 2-1-1 ECAC Hockey) had its opportunities throughout the game as the Engineers got 22 shots on net, but Dartmouth posted 28 on net.

The Big Green will be back in action this coming Friday as they hit the road to face ninth-ranked St. Lawrence at 7 p.m.
