BOSTON, Mass.
? The Dartmouth women's swimming and diving team produced a hard fought effort,
but Northeastern was too much for the Big Green as Dartmouth fell, 165.5-134.5, on Saturday
afternoon.
The Big Green was able to earn wins in four events,
including a two-event winner in freshman Anna Sonstegard (Sioux Falls, S.D.).
She earned wins in both long distance freestyle swims. Sonstegard took first in
1000 yard freestyle with a collegiate-best time of 10:39.99. She earned a top
finish in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:12.3, while classmate Maddie
Steiner (Dallas, Texas) took second, falling just short of Sonstegard with a
time of 5:12.67.
Other winners for Dartmouth
were senior captain Liz Mancuso (Andover, Mass.) and freshman Lindsay Wahl (Pittsford, N.Y.).
Mancuso posted the win in the 200 yard individual medley swimming it in
2:11.30. Wahl swam a collegiate-best time of 2:10.44 in the 220 yard backstroke
to earn the win.
On the diving side, senior Julianne Mifflin (Greenwich, Conn.)
took second in both diving events. In the 1-meter dive, she scored a 265.60,
while in the 3-meter dive Mifflin scored a 244.43.
The Dartmouth women will be
back in action as the Big Green join back up with the men to travel to Columbia on Saturday,
February 16, beginning at 12 p.m.
