HANOVER, N.H. ? Dartmouth men's tennis played to a win on Friday night, taking an impressive straight-set 7-0 victory over Amherst. Ranked #11 in the nation in Division III, Amherst was unable to take even a single set as the Big Green shut down the Lord Jeffs completely.
With co-captains
Mark Brodie (Greensboro, N.C.) and
Jeffrey Schechtman (Highland Park, Ill.) leading the way with an 8-2 win, the Big Green swept the doubles. The team of
Daniel Freeman (Chatsworth, Calif.) and
Ari Gayer (Hollis, N.Y.) took their set 8-6, while
David Steinberg (Tucson, Ariz.) and
Robbie Lim (Honolulu, Hawaii) emerged with an 8-5 victory.
As singles matches began with another Schechtman win at the No, 5 spot, Dartmouth continued its sweep. No Amherst player was able to win more than three games per set, as every member of the Big Green dominated their respective matches.
The win puts the Big Green back at .500 with a 7-7 season record.
The next outing for the Dartmouth men will be at Columbia on Friday, April 4, at 2:00 pm. Tomorrow at 1:00 pm, the women's tennis team faces Army at the Boss Tennis Center.
