Devin Lindsay Named Softball's First Weekly Award Winner of the Season

HANOVER, N.H. - Freshman Devin Lindsay (Whittier, Calif.) picked up her first collegiate award while giving Dartmouth softball it's first of the season after being named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week.

Lindsay picked up two victories over the weekend in three appearances in the circle for the Big Green. The rookie earned a shutout in Game Two on Saturday while pitching a total of 12.0 innings over the weekend. She gave up just one run in her three appearances with two strikeouts. Her 0.00 ERA was the best she's pitched this season. In the first game on Sunday she came on in relief to face two batters in the bottom of the fourth after the Bears had scored twice to even the score. She got out of the inning, holding Brown scoreless. For the season she has three victories in 16 appearances with two shutouts and four complete games.

For her play over the weekend sophomore catcher Leigha Clarkson (Perris, Calif.) was named to the Ivy League Honor Roll. Clarkson helped the Big Green take three-out-of-four games from Brown by hitting .357 and slugging .714. In the opening game on Saturday her two-out double, one of two on the weekend, helped the Big Green tie the game while she then scored the go-ahead run in the sixth inning enroute to a 4-3 Big Green victory. In the first game on Sunday she blasted her second home run of the season in the seventh inning giving her team a 7-3 win. She had five hits with two RBIs in the four games and for the season she's third on the team in hitting and leads her squad in extra-base hits.

Currently Dartmouth is 9-19, 5-7 in the Ivy League. The Big Green is currently four games of Harvard in the Northern Division. Dartmouth will host Yale on April 19 and 20 in two days of doubleheaders.
