ITHACA, N.Y. - In a contest that had 21 penalties and a combined 77 minutes between Dartmouth and Cornell, the Big Red capitalized on its power play chances to defeat the Big Green men's hockey team, 5-1.
Senior captain Peter Boldt (Greenwich, Conn.) recorded the only score for Dartmouth (0-2, 0-2 ECAC) as Adam Estoclet (Orono, Minn.) and Kyle Reeds (St. Louis, Mo.) had the assists. The Big Green notched its lone goal late in the contest.
Cornell (2-0, 1-0 ECAC) started the game with a power play strike just :38 seconds into the first period. The second period featured 12 penalties for the two teams but the Big Green's penalty killing unit held out as the Big Red had just one goal in the frame.
The third period opened wide for Cornell as Brendon Nash potted two and John Esposito had one as the home team skated away with te 5-1 win. It's the second straight game the Big Green has allowed an opponent to score five goals.
Dartmouth will be back in action tomorrow with a 4:00 pm game at Colgate. The contest will be the Raiders Silver Puck game.
