PRINCETON, N.J. — The Ivy League announced its men's basketball weekly honors today, and Dartmouth freshman
Matt LaBove (Shrewsbury, Mass.) was selected as the conference's Rookie of the Week. LaBove is the first Big Green player to earn the award since current sophomore
David Rufful took home the honor this past Feb. 23.
LaBove, a 6-9, 235-pound center, registered his first career double-double in a 66-58 loss at Lehigh last Thursday, tallying 12 points while snaring a team-high 11 rebounds, both figures being season highs for the freshman. He was perfect at the line, converting all six of his free throws, to constitute half of his points in the game. Then on Sunday, LaBove scored nine points and had six boards to lead the team once again in a 69-59 loss at New Hampshire.
For the week, LaBove averaged 10.5 points and 8.5 rebounds with six field goals while going 9-of-10 from the charity stripe.
Dartmouth (2-8) has one more game before Christmas, hosting Colgate (0-9) Tuesday evening in Leede Arena at 7 p.m.
