HANOVER, N.H. ? The Dartmouth women's swimming and diving team dropped a 205-95 decision to Ivy foe Columbia in its final regular season meet.
The Big Green finishes the 2008-09 campaign with a record of 7-7, 1-6 Ivy and heads to Long Island in two weeks for the Ivy Championships.
Senior
Heather Jankins (Raynham, Mass.) brought home a victory on senior day, taking the 50 freestyle in 24.60 while
Elizabeth Kamai (Corte Madera, Calif.) finished third in 24.76. Sophomore
Maddie Steiner (Dallas, Texas) was also a winner for the Big Green, winning the 100 freestyle in 52.33 and Jankins took third in 53.57. Steiner was a close second ? just .03 off first ? in the 200 freestyle, finishing in 1:54.85 and also took second in the 200 breaststroke in 2:29.03. Sophomore
Virginia Selden (Birmingham, Ala.) took second in the 200 butterfly in 2:10.22 and rookie
Stephanie Cobau (Whittier, Calif.) was second in the 500 freestyle in 5:12.98. Classmate
Kelsey Pinson (Portland, Ore.) finished second in the 100 butterfly.
The team of senior
Hillary Preston (Medina, Wash.), Jankins, Pinson and Kamai took second in the 200 medley relay in 1:49.84. In the other relay, Preston, Kamai, Steiner and Catherine Armystrong (Marietta, Ga.) finished third in the 400 freestyle in 3:37.26, just .02 off second place.
Dartmouth took second through fourth in the three-meter dive with freshman
Erica Serpico (Moorestown, N.J.) and junior Kat Brady (Upland, Calif.) tying for second with 243 points each. Brady was the top diver in the one-meter, finishing second with 2:43.82.
The Ivy Championships begin on Thursday, Feb. 26 in Long Island, N.Y.
