NEW HAVEN, Conn. ? Freshman
Pete Williamson (Hanover, N.H.) led the Dartmouth men's golf team to a fourth-place finish at the Yale Spring Open. The Big Green finished with an overall score of 614 (300-314), one shot behind third place Skidmore and four behind host Yale who finished in second.
Williamson was tied for 22nd overall after the first round but came back to strong on the final 18 holes and cut seven strokes off his first-round total. Williamson tied for third overall with a score of 149 (78-71), just two shots behind the tournament medalist. Teammate
Alex Abate (Augusta, Ga.) also performed strongly for the Big Green, posting a score of 151 (71-80) and finishing tied for seventh.
Rob Henley (Longmeadow, Ma.) shot a 155 (74-81), tying for 16th overall.
Davis Mullany (Great Barrington, Ma.) and
Teddy Overton (Paradise Valley, Ariz.) rounded out the Dartmouth squad. Mullany posted a score of 159 (77-82) while the freshman Overton finished the tournament with a score of 166 (80-86).
Harvard claimed the top three individual spots on its way to team honors with a team score of 595 (291-304). John Christensen was the individual medalist, finishing the 36-hole tournament with a score of 147 (72-75).
Dartmouth returns to the course April 9, 10 and 11 for the New England Division I Championships at the Triggs Memorial Golf Club in Providence, R.I.
