CHESTNUT HILL, MASS. — The 10th-ranked Dartmouth women's hockey team traveled to sixth-ranked Boston College on Wednesday, November 24, and lost, 4-2. The Eagles held the lead the entire contest, including scoring three first period goals. The loss drops the Big Green to 6-4-0 overall. Boston College improves to 9-2-4 overall.
The Eagles dominated the first period. BC scored twice in the first six minutes to blow the game open. Melissa Bizzari scored the first goal, slapping a shot at 4:43 from Meagan Mangene and Caitlin Walsh. Kelli Stack followed with a goal at 6:07 with assists from Bizzari and Alison Szlosek. Stack was just getting started, pushing the Boston College lead to three when she scored with 57 seconds remaining in the first frame.
The Big Green finally got on the board 15 minutes into the second period. Senior Amanda Trunzo (Andover, Minn.) scored a power play goal. It was her sixth goal of the season. Sophomore Sasha Nanji (Markham, Ont.) assisted on the goal. The Eagles responded early in the third with their fourth goal of the game. Dartmouth scored its second goal off the stick of junior Reagan Fischer (Irma, Alta.). Sophomore Camille Dumais (Beaconsfield, Que.) assisted on the goal for her team-leading eighth assist of the year.
Dartmouth once again dominated the game in shots, 29-16, but couldn't come out on top on the scoreboard. The Big Green were 1-for-8 on the power play, while Boston College went 0-for-3. Freshman Lindsay Holdcroft (Pittsburgh, Pa.) took the loss making 12 saves.
The squad will go 16 days before they play their next game at New Hampshire on December 11, at 2 p.m.
