BURLINGTON, VT. — The Dartmouth women's hockey team ended its two-game losing streak on Tuesday with its 5-1 victory at Vermont. The Big Green scored the first four goals in the contest on its way to victory. The Big Green improved to 10-8-0 overall. Vermont fell to 4-12-9 overall.
Senior Amanda Trunzo (Andover, Minn.) was the top goal scorer for Dartmouth. The forward recorded her ninth and tenth goals on the season. Her first came in the opening period with the Big Green holding a two-goal lead. With just over six minutes remaining in the opening stanza, Trunzo took a pass from sophomore Lisa Berreman (Eagan, Minn.), and beat the goaltender to give Dartmouth a 3-0 lead. It was the Big Green's first shorthanded goal of the season. Her second goal was Dartmouth's last goal with 3:44 remaining in the game.
Dartmouth took the lead early in the game, scoring 2:21 into the first period. Sophomore Sally Komarek (Minneapolis, Minn.) scored a power play goal off of assists from junior Jenna Hobeika (Alpine, N.J.) and sophomore Sasha Nanji (Markham, Ont.). Just 33 seconds later, sophomore Camille Dumais (Beaconsfield, Que.) gave Dartmouth a 2-0 lead off of assists from junior Reagan Fischer (Irma, Alta.) and junior Geneva Kliman (Toronto, Ont.).
Fischer scored the Big Green's fourth goal off an assist from Dumais. Freshman Lindsay Holdcroft (Pittsburgh, Pa.) started in net for the squad and made 19 saves in the victory. Dartmouth committed five penalties in the game, while the Catamounts had three.
The Big Green return to conference play on Friday when they host Union at 7 p.m.
