HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth women's hockey team had five players score goals on Friday in a 5-1 victory over Union at Thompson Arena. Dartmouth improved to 11-8-0 overall and 7-6-0 in the ECAC. Union dropped to 1-21-3 overall and 0-11-2 in conference play.
The teams played a close opening period with the Big Green striking first, 14:35 into the contest. Sophomore Sasha Nanji (Markham, Ont.) took a pass from senior Amanda Trunzo (Andover, Minn.) and beat goaltender Kate Gallagher in the top right corner of the net. Dartmouth took a 2-0 lead in the beginning of the second period off the stick of Camille Dumais (Beaconsfield, Que.). Sophomore Sally Komarek (Minneapolis, Minn.) assisted on the goal. The Dutchwomen didn't take long to cut into the lead, scoring 11 seconds later. After the faceoff, Dania Simmonds made a quick pass to Lauren Cromarti who then pushed the puck to Mac Purvis. Purvis took a quick shot, and fired the puck past Dartmouth's Lindsay Holdcroft (Pittsburgh, Pa.)
It took another 11 minutes before Dartmouth regained a two-goal lead. Senior Alyssa Boehm (Waterford, Conn.) scored her second goal of the season off a pass from senior Katie Horner (Brooklyn Park, Minn.). The Big Green would add two insurance goals in the third period. Junior Reagan Fischer (Irma, Alta.) scored on a breakaway off a pass from junior Kelly Foley (Boston, Mass.). Junior Geneva Kliman (Toronto, Ont.) scored on a power play with 1:28 remaining in the game. Overall, the Big Green had 10 players record a point in the game.
Dartmouth dominated the game in shots taking 34 compared to only nine by Union. The Big Green committed seven penalties, but the Dutchwomen went 0-for-6 on the power play. Union committed four penalties, and Dartmouth went 1-for-3 on the power play. Holdcroft earned the victory for the Big Green, making eight saves. Gallagher took the loss, making 29 saves.
The Big Green return to action on Saturday at Thompson Arena against RPI at 4 p.m.
