NEW HAVEN, CONN. — The Dartmouth women's hockey team used two goals and some stellar goaltending to earn a 2-1 victory at Yale on Friday. The win improved the Big Green to 13-8-0 overall, 9-6-0 in the ECAC and 4-3-0 in the Ivy League. The Bulldogs dropped to 5-13-2 overall and 4-8-1 in the ECAC.
Dartmouth took the lead early in the first period. Junior Kelly Foley (Boston, Mass.) scored 6:30 into the opening frame off an assist from junior Reagan Fischer (Irma, Alta.). It was Foley's 10th goal of the season. The Big Green went into the first intermission with a one-goal lead and added another late in the second period. With 4:30 remaining in the second, junior Erica Dobos (Bethel Park, Pa.) scored her fourth goal of the season off assists from Geneva Kliman (Toronto, Ont.) and Margaux Sharp (Carleton Place, Ont.) It was Dartmouth's 24th power play goal of the season.
Yale cut into the lead late in the third period. With 6:35 remaining, Aleca Hughes scored her fifth goal of the season off an assist from Bray Ketchum. The Bulldogs pulled their goalie late, but couldn't score the equalizer.
Freshman Lindsay Holdcroft (Pittsburgh, Pa.) was fantastic for the Big Green. She made 25 saves to improve her season record to 9-5-0. She has played four consecutive games without allowing more than one goal.
Both teams were whistled fro numerous penalties. Dartmouth had 10 for 20 minutes and Yale had six for 12 minutes. The Big Green converted one of five of their power play chances, while the Bulldogs went 0-for-5. Dartmouth took more shots in the contest, 37-26.
It was the fourth straight win for Dartmouth who play at Brown on Saturday at 4 p.m.
