HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth men's tennis team hosted the first day of the Dartmouth Invite on Friday at the Boss Tennis Center, and the Big Green went 5-1 in singles and 3-0 in doubles. The event consists of four singles draws and two doubles draws.
In the green singles, junior Xander Centenari (Towson, Md.) cruised in his first-round match, 6-2, 6-0. Dartmouth had two players compete in the white singles with sophomore Brandon DeBot (Stevens Point, Wis.) winning in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3, but junior Alex de Chatellus (Tiburon, Calif.) losing in three sets, 7-6, 1-6, 6-2.
The Big Green had two players in the blue singles. Senior Chris Ho (Los Altos, Calif.) upended Cypers from Amherst, 6-1, 6-3, and freshman Chris Kipouras (San Ramon, Calif.) topped Verano of Army, 6-2, 6-4. In the black draw, sophomore Cameron Ghorbani (Lexington, Mass.) won in straight sets, 6-2, 7-5.
In the white doubles, the combo of DeBot and Ghorbani advanced, winning, 8-2. The duo of Centenari and Ho also moved on by defeating Kahan and Cypers of Amherst. In the green doubles, senior Michael Laser (Glencoe, Ill.) and de Chatellus beat Holland and Verano of Army, 8-2.
The invite continues on Saturday and concludes on Sunday.
