Starting Five
1. Tonight's game is the final game in Dartmouth's season-opening road swing. The Big Green has played five road or neutral site games to open the season. Dartmouth opens its home slate Nov. 30 vs. New Hampshire.
2. Today's meeting is the sixth meeting between Dartmouth and Providence and the first meeting since the 2003-04 season. Dartmouth won that game 64-57 in Hanover, N.H.
3. Junior guard Faziah Steen scored a career-best 32 points in Dartmouth's win over Vermont (Nov. 22). Her 30 points was the first 30-point outing for a Big Green player since the 2006-07 season when Ashley Taylor hit 30 against Holy Cross.
4. Dartmouth debuted its third starting lineup of the season against Vermont. The Big Green has started at least two freshmen in each contest this season.
5. After allowing its first two opponents to shoot better than 45 percent, Dartmouth has clamped down on defense and has held its last two opponents to less than 25 percent from the floor, resulting in two Dartmouth wins.
Dartmouth vs. Providence
Notables
- Dartmouth and Providence will be meeting for the first
time since the 2003-04 season in today's contest. This will also be the first
meeting in Providence since the 2002-03 season.
-Providence has already played one Ivy League opponent in Harvard. The Friars defeated the Crimson, 71-60, in Providence on Nov. 18. In addition to the Big Green, Providence will also play Brown in the Brown Bear Classic on Dec. 4.
-Dartmouth is looking for its first win in Providence. In the three games that have taken place at Providence in the series, Dartmouth is 0-3.
A Win Would ...
1. Extend Dartmouth's current wining streak to three
consecutive games and give the Big Green their second consecutive road win.
2. Even the all-time series at 3-3 and give Dartmouth its first win over a BCS opponent since the 2003-04 season when they defeated Providence.
3. Improve Dartmouth to 3-2 on the season for its first winning record of the early season.
Scouting Providence
Providence enters today's game on a two-game winning streak
after posting a 51-50 overtime win over Oakland (Mich.) on Tuesday (Nov. 22).
The Friars are 1-1 at Mullaney Gym with a loss to Virginia in its home opener
and a win over Harvard. Teya Wright is leading the Friar offense and is
averaging a double-double with 14.6 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. Rachel
Barnes is also in double figures with 11.2 points per game. Symone Roberts (9.8
ppg) and Alicia Cropper (8.0 ppg) are also contributing for the Friars. Head
coach Phil Seymore is in his fifth season.
Buckets For Steen
Fresh off her TD Bank Classic All-Tournament Team selection,
Steen followed her two double figure games with 32 points, 11 rebounds and five
steals in a win over Vermont. Steen's 32 points and 11 rebounds were both career
highs and her 32 points are the most points by a Big Green player since Ashley
Taylor scored 30 during the 2006-07 season. The junior captain is leading the
Big Green offense with 18.0 points per game and posted her third consecutive game
in double figures. To make things sweeter, it was also Steen's birthday!
Doubling Up
Not only did she score 32 points but Steen also pulled down
11 rebounds for her first career double-double. Steen's previous career high
was seven rebounds, which she reached on three occasions. Additionally, Steen's
double figure rebounds were the first of the season and the first for a Big
Green player since Cassie Cooper's 11 rebounds against Harvard in the season
finale last season
Steen Leads the Way
Steen's 32 against Vermont marked her 13th game in double
figures in Dartmouth's last 16 outings dating back to last season.
Additionally, she's been the Big Green's leading scorer in 13 of the last 19
games going back to the 2010-11 season.
Birthday Gals
Not only was it Faziah Steen's birthday on Tuesday but
freshman Milica Toskovic also celebrated her birthday. The Big Green has five
players that have birthdays during the season including Steen and Toskovic. Tia
Dawson is next up to celebrate a birthday; Dawson will celebrate her "born day"
on Nov. 28.
Another Day, Another
Lineup

win over Vermont. Dartmouth's opening day lineup consisted of Eve Zelinger,
Faziah Steen, Sasha Dosenko, Milica Toskovic and Tia Dawson.Nicola Zimmer In games against
St Joseph and Colgate, replaced Zelinger while Kamala Thompson
made her first career start against Vermont replacing Toskovic.
