The Dartmouth women's basketball team closes its California road trip when it heads to the Bay Area to take on California from the Pac-12. The Big Green and Bears tipoff at 7 p.m. (ET) at Cal's Haas Pavilion.

1. Tonight's game concludes Dartmouth's two-game swing in
California. The Big Green took on Long Beach State on Friday (Dec. 16).
Dartmouth has spent the last six days in California.
2. This is the first meeting between Dartmouth and California. Of Dartmouth's 14 non-conference opponents, Cal is the second first time opponent this season. The Big Green will also face Longwood for the first time this season in January.
3. Dartmouth is looking to snap its current five-game losing streak, which is the longest of the season to date. The Big Green closed the 2010-11 season on a five-game losing streak, which extended to seven games this season. Seven games is the longest losing streak in program history.
4. Big Green freshman Tia Dawson has assumed the position as Dartmouth's defensive leader. The season Dawson leads the team with 6.7 points and 6.2 rebounds. She is also the big Green's leading shot blocker with 2.0 blocks per game, which also leads the Ivy League.
5. Junior guard Faziah Steen picked up her 200th rebound against Long Beach State (Dec. 16). She's also moving her way up the scoring charts and is 74 points away from reaching the 800-point mark.

Notables
- Dartmouth and Cal are meeting for the first time in
tonight's contest. The Big Green has taken on Colorado, Oregon State and
Stanford from the Pac 12.
-California head coach Lindsey Gotttlieb has an Ivy League connection as she played at Brown University. She actually played at Brown when current Big Green assistant Erin Rewalt, played at Dartmouth.
-While California doesn't have any players from New Hampshire, Dartmouth has three players that hail from the Golden State. Sophomores Janelle Ross (Inglewood) and Eve Zelinger (Palo Alto) and freshman Milica Toskovic (Santa Monica) all call California home.
A Win Would ...
1. Snap Dartmouth's five-game losing streak and give the Big
Green its first win over a BCS conference school since defeating Providence in
the 2003-04 season. It would also be the first win over a school from
California since defeating Pepperdine during the 1985-86 season.
2. Give the Big Green a 1-0 series advantage and its first win over a school from California since defeating Pepperdine during the 1985-86 season.
3. Give the Big Green its second road win of the season. Dartmouth defeated Vermont in Burlington, Vt., on Nov. 22 and also has a neutral site win over Colgate (Nov. 19).
Scouting California
California enters tonight's game
with an 8-3 record after falling to No. 12 Ohio State, 77-75, on Saturday (Dec.
16). The Bears were on a five-game winning streak prior to the Ohio State game.
Despite the loss, the Bears had four players in double figures with Gennifer
Brandon posting a double-double with 24 points and 24 rebounds. Layshia Clarendon leads the Bears offense
with 11.0 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. Reshanda Gray is also in double
figures with 10.8 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. The Bears, who are
receiving votes in both the AP and coaches poll's, are averaging 72.2 points
per game while holding its opponents to 59.0 point per game. Head coach Lindsey
Gottlieb is in her first season at the helm of the program. Gottlieb was an
assistant at Cal from 2005-08 before taking over as head coach at UCSB.
California Dreamin'
Dartmouth closes its two-game California road swing with
tonight's contest. The Big Green, who started the road trip in Southern
California, last traveled to California during the 2009-10 season for a
tournament hosted by South California. . During head coach Chris Wielgus'
tenure at Dartmouth the Big Green have traveled to California on three
occasions prior to this season's trip. Tonight's game also marks the seventh
road or neutral site game for the Big Green this season. Dartmouth is coming
off a three-game homestand, which is its longest stay at home during the
season.
Cali Girls
The trip to California will serve as a homecoming for
several Dartmouth players. Big Green sophomores Janelle Ross and Eve Zelinger
as well as freshman Milica Toskovic hail from California. Ross and Toskovic
hail from Southern California, with Ross residing in Inglewood and Toskovic
coming from Santa Monica while Zelinger is from up the coast in Palo Alto.
Dawson has a Block
Party
In Dartmouth's loss at Long Beach State freshman Tia Dawson
picked up a career-high six blocks. Her six blocks is the most for the Big
Green this season and is the most since Sasha Dosenko posted five blocks
against Columbia last season. Dawson leads the Big Green with 2.0 blocks per
game and is also currently leading the Ivy League in total blocks and blocks
per game.
Hunter with a Career
Night at Long Beach
Sophomore Arianne Hunter had a career night in Dartmouth's
game against Long Beach State (Dec. 16). She hit new career highs in points
with seven and rebounds with three. Hunter is playing her first complete season
with for the Big Green after only seeing action in one game last season
recovering from injury.
Steen Continues to
Climb the Charts
Junior guard Faziah Steen, fresh off her 700th career point
against Hartford (Dec. 12), picked up her 200th career rebound against Long
Beach. Steen is currently sitting at exactly 200 career rebounds. She is also
heading up the scoring charts and with her 15 points against Long Beach now has
726 career points and needs just 274 points to become Dartmouth's 16th
1,000-point scorer. In order to reach
that milestone this season she will need to average 14.4 points per game over
Dartmouth's remaining 19 contests. Steen, who entered the season with an 11.2
career scoring average, has scored over 200 points in each of her seasons at
Dartmouth.
Dosenko Approaching
Her 100th Career Block
Senior Sasha Dosenko is just one block away from her 100th
career block. She will join a group of just seven Big Green players to record
at least 100 career blocks. She is currently sitting at No. 8 on Dartmouth's
all-time list and has a chance to move into the top five by the end of the
season.
