BOSTON, MASS. — The Dartmouth women's tennis team dropped a tough 4-3 decision at Boston University on Wednesday. The Big Green fell to 1-3 on the indoor season. The team got off to a slow start and was swept in the doubles. Sophomore Sarah Leonard (Norwalk, Conn.), making her 2011 singles debut, won quickly at fourth singles to tie the score 1-1. BU won the next two matches to go up 3-1.
Seniors Ryan Reichel (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) and Georgiana Smyser (Houston, Texas) finished within a couple of minutes of each other to tie the score at 3-3. All eyes turned to the No. 5 singles court where freshman Sabrina Stewart (London, England) had just won the first set in a tiebreak. The next two sets didn't go in the Big Green's favor, and BU came away with a three set victory and a 4-3 win.
Dartmouth next compete against Virginia Tech on Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Boss Tennis Center. The match can be watched live at: http://www.livestream.com/dartmouthtennis
