HANOVER, N.H. — After suffering a tough loss on Friday, the Dartmouth women's hockey team took its frustrations out on Princeton on Saturday at Thompson Arena. The Big Green had six players score a goal in the 7-0 victory. Dartmouth improved to 15-9-0 overall and 11-7-0 in the ECAC. The Tigers dropped to 12-12-1 overall and 9-8-1 in the conference.
The scoring was headlined by two junior forwards. Jenna Hobeika (Alpine, N.J.) scored two goals and added two assists, and Reagan Fischer (Irma, Alta.) scored one goal and had two assists. Hobeika scored both of her goals in the third period, which marked the Big Green's final two goals of the contest.
Fischer scored the first goal of the game, nine minutes into the first period. She scored off a rebound and Hobieka and junior Erica Dobos (Bethel Park, Pa.) recorded assists on the play. It was one of three goals the Big Green would score in the opening period. Sophomore Jessica Gagner (London, Ont.) scored her first goal of the season off another rebound, this time from a Margaux Sharp (Carleton Place, Ont.) shot. The final goal of the period came while the Big Green were shorthanded. Hobeika took the puck and flicked ahead a pass that found senior Alyssa Boehm (Waterford, Conn.). Boehm received the puck just inside the blue line and pushed it ahead a few feet before firing the puck in to the back of the net.
In the second period, Dartmouth would score two goals. Junior Kelly Foley (Boston, Mass.) recorded her 11th goal of the season 51 seconds into the period. Senior Amanda Trunzo (Andover, Minn.) scored her 14th goal of the season after completing a give and go with sophomore Camille Dumais (Beaconsfield, Que.).
Hobeika now has eight goals on the season and 12 assists. Fischer has scored seven goals and tallied 14 assists. Besides Hobeika and Fischer, two other Big Green skaters recorded two points on the night. Foley had a goal and an assist, and Dobos recorded two assists.
Freshman Lindsay Holdcroft (Pittsburgh, Pa.) rebounded from an off night on Friday to record her fourth shutout of the season. She made 18 saves to earn the victory.
The Big Green were three-for-seven on the power play to go along with their shorthanded goal. Dartmouth outshot Princeton, 32-18, in the contest. The win keeps Dartmouth in third place in the conference.
The Big Green head out for their final road trip of the regular season when they play at St. Lawrence on Friday, Feb. 11.
