HANOVER, N.H. — The 75th-ranked Dartmouth women's tennis team knocked off 49th-ranked Princeton, the defending Ivy League champions, 4-3 on Saturday thanks to singles wins from senior tri-captains Molly Scott (Trabuco Cyn, Calif.), Ryan Reichel (Hilton Head Island, S.C.), Georgiana Smyser (Houston, Texas) and freshmen Melissa Matsuoka (Newport Beach, Calif.). The Big Green improved to 11-7 overall and 3-0 in the Ivy League. (3-0). The Tigers fell to 9-9 overall and 2-2 in the conference.

Princeton took the doubles point 2-1, with the Big Green's lone win coming from Smyser and sophomore Sarah Leonard (Norwalk, Conn.) at third doubles. Dartmouth quickly bounced back, taking the first set in singles on every court but one. Smyser lost one game en route to victory at No. 6, and Scott also won handily at first singles, downing 2010 Ivy League Player of the Year Hilary Bartlett 6-2, 6-4.

The Tigers evened the score at 2-2 when freshman Katherine Flanigan defeated the Big Green's Sabrina Stewart (London, England) in straight sets at fifth singles. The Tigers briefly moved ahead when All-Ivy player Rachel Saiontz defeated Leonard in three sets at No. 2. Matsuoka then tied the match with a three-set victory over senior Taylor Marable at third singles. This left the match on the racket of Reichel, who was locked in a three-set battle with sophomore Monica Chow, a blue-chip recruit from Miami. After Chow fought back from a 5-6 third-set deficit to even the score at 6-6, Reichel put the hammer down and won the tiebreaker 7-2 to clinch the match for Dartmouth 6-3, 6-7 (6), 7-6 (2).
