PRINCETON, N.J. — After two rounds of the Princeton Invitational at Springdale Golf Club, Dartmouth junior
Peter Williamson (Hanover, N.H.) sits atop the leaderboard in a three-way tie with a two-under 140 (71-69). His strong 36-hole showing helped the Big Green to a tie for third with Princeton after the first day of competition with a team score of 19-over par.
The two tied for the top spot with Williamson are Tom McCarthy and Sam Bernstein from Yale. Another Bulldog, Brad Kushner, is alone in fourth place one stroke back, as Yale owns a 13-stroke lead in the team standings over Penn with a score of 565 (-3).
Williamson was the strongest golfer on the par-4 holes, shooting three-under par in the two rounds. The two-time All-Ivy golfer also carded eight birdies on the day, tied for fourth most among the competitors. His teammate, sophomore
James Pleat (Nashua, N.H.) had seven birdies, most coming in his second round of play. Pleat enters the final round in a tie for 15th with a four-over 146 (76-70).
Sophomore
Andrew Jankowski (Elkins, N.H.) shot an even-par 71 in the first round before ending his day with a 78 (+7) to tie for 22nd place. Also competing for the Big Green were senior
Davis Mullany (Great Barrington, Mass.) with a 78-75–153 (+11) and freshman Joe Mazier (Atlanta, Ga.) with a 79-77—156 (+14).
In addition, three other Dartmouth golfers participated as individuals — junior
Teddy Overton (79-76—155, tie-48th), freshman
Gavin Duarte (81-76—157, tie-57th) and sophomore
Owen Lynch (82-84—166, 67th).
The third and final round will begin tomorrow afternoon at 12:30 p.m.
