BLOOMINGTON, IND. — The Dartmouth women's track and field team had four athletes compete on day two of the NCAA East Regional hosted by Indiana University on Friday.
Senior Alex Tanner (Baltimore, Md.) was looking to advance in the quarterfinals of the 400-meter hurdles after moving out of the first round on Thursday. Tanner missed a spot in the NCAA Championship by two places as she took 14th with the top 12 qualifying. She finished fifth in her heat at 59.31. The last qualifier, Iris Campbell of Western Michigan, crossed the finish line at 58.18.
The Big Green had two athletes compete in field events on Friday. Senior Jaclyn Wypler (Ridgewood, N.J.) competed in the javelin where the top 12 finishers advanced to the NCAA Championship. Wypler took 40th with a mark of 39.79 meters (130-06.00 feet) on her first of three attempts. Meghan Austin of Alabama was the final qualifier at 46.13 meters (151-04.00 feet).
In the triple jump, senior Malina Simmers (Anchorage, Alaska) also was looking to finish in the top 12 in order to advance to the championship meet. She placed 40th with a jump of 11.99 meters (39-04.00 feet) on her second of three jumps. The 12th qualifier was Julienne McKee of Georgia Tech with a mark of 12.56 meters (41-02.50 feet).
Junior Alexi Pappas (Alameda, Calif.) competed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. She placed 22nd in the event at 10:27.53. The top 12 competitors qualified for the NCAA Championship with Nicole Rozario of South Florida taking 12th at 10:17.60.
The Big Green's Abbey D'Agostino (Topsfield, Mass.) competes in the 5,000 meters on Saturday at 8:05 p.m.
