The Dartmouth women's basketball team hits the road for a Saturday afternoon matchup with the 2011-12 America East Champion, Albany Great Danes. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. at Albany's SEFCU Arena.

Starting Five
1. Dartmouth's trip to Albany begins a tough stretch of
basketball for the Big Green. The squad will play three games in six days and
will play two of those games on the road (at Albany and at Northeastern).
Additionally, the Big Green will play four of its next five games away from
Leede Arena. The lone exception is Nov. 29 when Syracuse travels to Hanover,
N.H.
2. The Big Green are looking for back-to-back "true" road wins for the first time since the 2008-09 season when they defeated Brown (2/6) and Yale (2/7). Last season, Dartmouth defeated Colgate and Vermont in back-to-back instances but the Colgate game was a neutral site game at Vermont's TD Bank Tournament.
3. This is the first meeting between Dartmouth and Albany since the 2000-01 season. The Danes are one of five non-conference opponents in 2012-13 in which the Big Green leads the all-time series. In addition to Albany, Dartmouth leads series with Bryant, Northeastern, possible opponents Delaware and Holy Cross.
4. Dartmouth is coming off an 11-day layoff for exams. The Big Green are 3-4 in games coming off a break of more than 10 days dating back to the 2008-09 season. In 2008-09, the Big Green had three breaks of 10 days or more and posted two wins. Over the last two seasons, Dartmouth is 0-3 in those instances.
5. Should the Big Green pick up the win against the Great Danes, it will be the first time Dartmouth opened a season 2-1 since opening with four straight wins in 2005-06.

Notables
- Dartmouth and Albany will be playing for the first time
since the 2000-01 season. The Big Green, who own a 2-0 series lead, will travel
to Albany for the second time in the series.
-Dartmouth will be the lone Ivy League opponent on Albany's schedule this season. The Big Green will take on additional America East foes in Granite State rival, New Hampshire, and Hartford. The Big Green will travel to UNH (Dec. 5) and will host Hartford (Dec. 9).
-The Dartmouth game is the first of two home games on the Danes schedule before they embark on an eight-game road swing. After a game with NJIT on Nov. 28, Albany won't play at home again until Jan. 12 against Maine.
A Win Would ...
1. Give Dartmouth head coach Chris Wielgus her 389th win at
Dartmouth. She entered the 2012-13 season needing 13 wins to claim her 400th
victory as head coach of the Big Green.
2. Give the Big Green back-to-back road victories for the first time since 2008-09 and move the squad to 2-1 for the first time since 2005-06. That season they opened 4-0 and claimed the Ivy League title and a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
3. Improve Dartmouth to 3-0 all-time against the Great Danes
and to 51-69 against America East foes.
Scouting Albany
Albany enters Saturday's game with a 2-2 record after
falling to Michigan State, 67-35, on Nov. 21. The Great Danes defeated Long
Island, 67-50 on Nov. 13 and went on the road and picked up a 68-54 win over
Western Michigan on Nov. 18. Albany sits at 1-1 at home, after dropping its
season-opener to Fordham on Nov. 9. The Danes enter the 2012-13 season as the
defending America East tournament champions. The Great Danes advanced to the
NCAA Tournament and went 23-10, 14-2 America East in 2011-12. The Danes are led
by Ebone Henry and Julie Forster who are averaging 12.5 and 11.0 points per
game, respectively while Lindsey Lowrie is nearing double-figures with 9.0
points per game. Forster leads the defensive efforts and is pulling down 13.5
rebounds per game through the early season.
Head coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson is in her third season at the helm
of the Albany program and led the Great Danes to the best season in program
history in 2011-12. She earned America East Coach of the Year honors after
leading Albany to the most wins in Division I history and its highest America
East finish.
BYU ... Escape Artists
The visiting BYU Cougars were lucky to escape Hanover with a
win. Dartmouth dropped a one-point, 58-57 contest to the Cougars. It was the
Big Green's first one-point game since a 56-55 loss to Brown at Leede during
the 2010-11 season. The last time Dartmouth won a game by one point was during
the 2009-10 season when they earned back-to-back one-point wins over Harvard
(45-44) and New Hampshire (49-48). The Big Green also lost a one-point contest
that season, falling to Rhode Island (57-58).
Tough Stretch on the
Horizon
The Albany game begins a tough stretch for the Big Green.
Saturday's game is the first in a stretch of three games in six days as well as
the beginning of a span that will take the Big Green away from home for four of
its next five games and six of its next eight contests. In this span, Dartmouth
will travel to Albany, Northeastern, Old Dominion, New Hampshire, Florida
Atlantic and Marquette. The lone home games aren't against slouches either as
Syracuse (Nov. 29) and Hartford (Dec. 9) will make the trek to Hanover.
