BOSTON – For the third time this season and the second in as many weeks, the Dartmouth women's indoor track & field team took up residence at Boston University's Track and Tennis Center Saturday.
This time, it was the Scarlet and White Invite, a non-scoring meet hosted by the Terriers in their home building, that was on the Big Green's
Senior Megan Krumpoch was the top collegiate runner in the 800, claiming second in 2:06.33, just three-hundredths of a second back of Lorain McKenzie. Meggie Donovan was fifth overall running in the top heat, finishing in 2:07.68.
Jennifer Meech was fourth in the 400m (55.52) and sixth overall in the 200m (24.75), while Elizabeth Markowitz was fifth in the mile race, crossing in 4:48.29.
The 4x400m relay team of Maya Jarostchuk, Katy Sprout, Meech and Krumpoch posted a 3:53.38 to take fourth.
The field events are where the Big Green truly excelled on this day. Emmaline Berg's second throw of the day in the shot put was measured at 47-2.50/14.39m and proved to be the best by any student-athlete in the field by nearly five feet. Corinne Romano was third (41-0.25/12.50m) and Melissa Dunham (40-6.25/12.35m) was fourth in the event as well.
Berg continued her strong day with a sixth-place showing in the weight throw with a 50-8.25/15.45m. Cathy Liebowitz (53-9.0/16.38m) was third overall in the field of 14 competitors.
In the high jump, Janae Dunchack was fifth with a 5-5.0/1.65 height to her credit, while the duo of Stephanie Brown (10-11.75/3.35m) and Katie McCallum (10-11.75/3.35m) were fifth and sixth, respectively, in the pole vault.
Dartmouth will not be in action next week as it prepares to host the 2013 Ivy League Heptagonal Championship meet at Leverone Field House on Mar. 1-2.
