ITHACA, N.Y. – The Dartmouth men's golf team continues to thrive this fall, winning its second straight invitational this season. Last week, the Big Green won the Bucknell Invitational and this weekend picked up a win at the Cornell Invitational, carding a team score of 904 (298-300-306) and a 52-over par.
The invitational was played at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course, a 6,904-yard par 71 facility with a rating of 73.1 and a slop of 137.
"It was very tough conditions this weekend with wind and fast greens," John F. Lundgren '73 Head Coach of Men's Golf Rich Parker said. "I am happy for the players, as it is always tough to win a collegiate event."
Blake Carter from Longwood came away as the top medalist in the individual portion of the event shooting a five-over par 218. Dartmouth's best performer freshman Ian Kelsy moved up two spots and tied for third shooting a seven-over par 220 (75-72-72). Kelsy's second and third round performances helped the Dartmouth rookie finish tied for third along with his nine birdies.
Dartmouth finished with four players in the top-20, the most of any team competing at the invite. Sophomore Scott Jaster tied for fifth and carded an 11-over par after he shot two-over after the first day of play. Playing as an independent junior Dylan Rusk finished 13, shooting 13-over par 76, but had a better third round to even out his score from yesterday (71-79). Rusk also had nine birdies.
Sophomore Charles Cai moved down and tied for 14th after he finished with a 14-over par 227. Freshman Edric Wung and Sawyer Shaw also competed and finished in the middle of the pack. Wung was the only Dartmouth golfer to eagle a hole.
Delaware and Ivy League foe Pennsylvania tied for second shooting a 905 as a team. Colgate and Drexel rounded out the top-five.
Dartmouth will host the Quechee Club Invitational next weekend.
