Big Green Head to Philly For Date Saturday Night With Penn

SATURDAY'S GAME
The Dartmouth men's soccer team is back on the road for an Ivy League contest at Penn on Saturday night. Game time from the City of Brotherly Love is set for 7:30 p.m. at Rhodes Field.

LAST TIME OUT
It's been a week since the Big Green last took to the field, but that time off has done little to dampen the effects of the 1-0 win in New Haven last Saturday. Dartmouth bested the Elis thanks to a shutout from Stefan Cleveland and a second-half goal from Samuel Rosen to pick up the second Ivy win of the season.

SCOUTING THE QUAKERS
Penn is another conference opponent who has struggled this fall, but is capable of doing damage on any given night. Just 2-7-1 overall, the Quakers are 1-1-0 versus Ivy opponents with a 2-0 home win against Cornell on Oct. 3. That was the last victory they managed, though, as a 2-1 loss at Columbia and a 2-0 defeat to Columbia have followed. Joe Swenson is the only player with multiple goals this season as he has two of the team's seven total tallies through 10 games. Goalkeeping duties have been split between three players with Nick Savino starting half the games and boasting the best statistical figures of the trio.

AGAINST PENN
Despite winning a share of the Ivy League crown and the conference's automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament, Dartmouth will look back on last season and want the game against the Quakers back. The lone loss in the seven-game Ivy schedule came at home in mid-October to Penn, 2-1. The Dartmouth goal was the result of a penalty kick by Gabe Stauber '15 in the seventh minute, but an early marker was not enough as Penn put the only blemish on the Green's 2014 conference campaign.

PERFECT TIMING
Rosen entered his senior season without a goal to his credit in three seasons. After finally snapping that distinction earlier in the fall at Albany, Rosen picked the perfect time to break onto the stats sheet versus an Ivy League opponent with the tally at Yale. A high, arcing shot from outside the box sailed over the beleaguered Bulldog defenders and into the far corner of the net for what would also prove to be his first career game-winning goal.

TEAM DEFENSE
Head coach Chad Riley discussed shutouts as total-team efforts following the 1-0 victory at Yale. Dartmouth certainly exemplifies that type of mentality, but the anchor of the backend has been Cleveland and his stellar play in 2015. The senior leads all Ivy League keepers in save percentage (.861), goals against average (0.69), goals against (5) and shutouts (5). That and the play of James Hickok when called upon have helped Dartmouth to the best team defense (0.68) amongst all eight Ivy teams.

SPREAD THE WEALTH
The Big Green rank third in the conference in total goals this season with 14, trailing only Princeton (19) and Brown (16). However, where those teams get a lot of scoring from a small group of individuals, Dartmouth is seeing its scoring from a range of players. No other team has more individuals with at least one goal this season than the 10 scorers the Green and White have produced.

THROUGH THE QUAD AND INTO THE GYMNASIUM!
Since dropping both games on their trip to the Pacific Northwest, the Big Green have rebounded nicely with four straight wins. In that stretch against Hofstra, Princeton, Vermont and Yale, the Green and White have outscored the opposition, 7-1.
