GAME 2
Dartmouth Big Green (0-1, 0-0 Ivy) vs.
New Hampshire Wildcats (1-0, 0-0 America East)
Date: Monday, Nov. 16, 2015 – 7 p.m.
Location: Leede Arena, Hanover, N.H.
MONDAY'S GAME
Following its road loss against Drexel in the WNIT tournament, Dartmouth hosts New Hampshire at home. The Big Green will only play one more time at Leede Arena in November when Boston University visits Hanover on Nov. 28, at 2 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
On Friday, Dartmouth fell, 69-53, to the Dragons in Philadelphia despite a late rally in the fourth quarter. Lakin Roland led her team with 15 points, while Kate Letkewicz went two of nine from the field and led the Big Green with eight boards. Dartmouth fell behind early, as Drexel opened the game with a 7-0 run. After trailing most of the night, the Green mounted a comeback in the fourth, outscoring the Dragons by eight points.
SCOUTING NEW HAMPSHIRE
The Wildcats are coming off a 17-12 season, where New Hampshire was bounced from the America East Championship quarterfinals by fifth seeded Hartford. The Wildcats return 10 players from last year's team led by leading scorer senior guard Elizabeth Belanger. Last season, Belanger scored 443 points in 28 games in Durham. She also led the team in field goals made with 165. UNH is coming off a 72-41 victory over Colby-Sawyer at home last Friday.
LAST TIME AGAINST THE WILDCATS
On Dec. 18, 2014, the Big Green fell to their in-state rival, 60-44 at New Hampshire. Katie Vareika scored a team-high 12 points and went four for seven from beyond the arc. Dartmouth shot 37.5 percent from the field, compared to the Wildcats' 46 percent. Belanger led her team in points with 16, while Kaylee Kilpatrick scored 14. Early in first half, the lead changed hands four times, but New Hampshire came out hot in the second half, going on a 17-6 run en route to the victory.
MIND STILL ON 18
Dartmouth has 17 Ivy League titles and has made the NCAA Tournament seven times. This year, the Big Green were chosen to finish in sixth place in the Ivy League behind Cornell and Yale. Grabbing the top spot was No. 25 Princeton, followed by Penn and Harvard.
MESSING WITH TEXAS
Dartmouth will look to make a loan star statement next weekend, when the Green travel to Texas to take on McNeese State in the consolation bracket of the preseason WNIT. The winner of that game will face either Jacksonville University or University of Texas at Arlington.
FRESH FACES
Four new players will join the Big Green this season: guard Cy Lippold, guard Kealy Brown, forward Isalys Quinones and forward Emily Dryden.
