NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Yale's Tamara Simpson led all scorers with 20 points and the Bulldogs shot 34 percent to defeat the Dartmouth women's basketball team 53-28 on Saturday evening at the Lee Amphitheater.
Dartmouth concludes the season with a 14-14 record, its best since the 2008-09 season when they team finished 18-11 and made the NCAA Tournament.
Senior Milica Toskovic led Dartmouth (14-14, 5-9) with nine points in her final game in a Big Green uniform. Junior Lakin Roland added six points and the Big Green shot 22 percent from the field and made four three-point baskets.
Whitney Wyckoff added 10 points for the Bulldogs, who shot 33.9 percent from the floor, but not connect on a three-pointer.
Toskovic got the game started with a pair from the line 28 seconds into to play to give the Big Green a 2-0 lead. The Big Green led 10-6 on a three-pointer by Roland with 11:44 left in the half. Dartmouth increased the advantage to five, 13-8 on another triple by freshman Kate Letkewicz.
Yale then took the lead on a 14-0 run and held the Big Green scoreless for seven minutes and led by nine, 22-14, on a layup by Simpson. Dawson broke the drought with a basket inside at the 2:05 mark. Yale went into the locker room leading by seven (22-15).
Dartmouth shot 27.8 percent from the floor and made all three from the outside and a pair from the line. Yale struggled as well from the floor despite the seven-point lead and shot 25.6 percent. The Bulldogs had 21 more attempts and outrebounded the Big Green, 28-14 and collected 17 offensive rebounds.
In the second, Yale outscored the Big Green, 31-13 and took its largest lead by over 20 points midway through the half.
Dartmouth will return nine letterwinners from this season, which will include five sophomores, two juniors and two seniors.
