NEW YORK, N.Y. – The No. 30 Dartmouth women's opened Ivy League play with a 6-1 loss to No. 65 Columbia at the Dick Savitt Tennis Center on Friday afternoon.
This is the second time in less than two months that the teams have met. Dartmouth claimed the ECAC Indoor Championship title with a 4-0 victory over Columbia.
The Big Green dipped to 13-4 and 0-1 in league contests, while the Lions improved to 9-6 and 1-1 in conference action.
Columbia picked up the first point with an 8-1 victory at No. 2 and an 8-4 win at No. 3. Sophomore Taylor Ng and junior Jacqueline Crawford were leading Crystal Leung and Tina Jiang, 6-5, at No. 1 when the match expired.
Five of the six singles matches went to three sets. Ng won Dartmouth's lone point against Kanika Vaidya at No. 1, taking the first and third sets, 6-2, 6-3, while falling in the second, 6-2.
The Green will take on conference rival Cornell at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
