Women's Tennis Opens Fall Season at ITA All-American Tournament

CARY, N.C. – Dartmouth women's tennis opened its fall season this past weekend at the ITA All-American Tournament. Michela Moore and Peyton Capuano each competed in singles before teaming up for doubles.

The field featured elite competition, with many of Division I's top players taking part. Both Moore and Capuano had their singles matches decided in three sets.

Moore opened her season against Jimena Gomez of the University of Arkansas. Moore won the first set in a tiebreak, 7-6 (7-5), before Gomez took the next two sets. Moore battled throughout the match, making herself a tough out.

Today, Capuano began her fall season against Gianna Oboniye of Mississippi State University. Capuano won the first set, 7-5, but Oboniye answered by taking the second, sending the match to a third and final set. Capuano pushed that set to a tiebreak before narrowly falling, 6-7 (6-8).

The duo paired up for doubles later this afternoon, drawing a team from the University of Florida. Moore and Capuano played well overall but fell, 4-6, 3-6.

Up Next:
The Fall Foliage Fest begins Friday, Sept. 25, and runs through Sunday, Sept. 27. A start time has yet to be determined for the event, which will take place at the Boss Tennis Center on the campus of Dartmouth College.
