Four Dartmouth Women Ready to Tackle NCAA East Regional

HANOVER, N.H. – Four members of the Dartmouth women's track & field team are headed to Jacksonville, Florida, for this weekend's 2015 NCAA East Regional.

The meet is set to take place at Hodges Stadium on the campus of the host institution, the University of North Florida.

The three-day meet begins Thursday night with just one of the four members of the Big Green competing. Senior Claudia Pham kicks things off in the semifinal of the 10,000m (9 p.m.) by posting the 31st-best qualifying time amongst eastern runners this spring.

A trio of Dartmouth women look to punch their tickets to nationals in Eugene, Oregon, at Hayward Field June 10-13 when they return to competition on Saturday.

Junior Kaitlin Whitehorn will look to advance to her first national championship meet when the 1st round of the high jump gets underway at 6 p.m. The Ivy League champion in the event, Whitehorn's 1.75m ranked as the 41st-best mark in the east to help her earn a spot in the field.

Fellow juniors Dana Giordano (15:54.05, 8th) and Reid Watson (16:17.01, 26th) were both ranked in the top-30 of qualifiers in the 5000m that will take to the track at 8:05 p.m. Saturday night.

Giordano is looking to make it to nationals for the third time this season and the sixth straight occurrence over the last two years between cross country (2013 & 2014) and indoor (2014 & 2015) and outdoor track (2014). The New Jersey native earned an automatic berth by finishing fourth in her quarterfinal heat in the same event last year as she ran a 16:05.04 in Jacksonville.
