Doepking, Four Big Green Players Grab Preseason Honors

HANOVER, N.H. – CollegeSportsMadness.com has announced its 2016 Preseason All-Ivy team naming Dartmouth softball head coach Shannon Doepking as Coach of the Year and four members of the Big Green to its First Team list.

Doepking is entering her second season at the helm as Dartmouth is in search of its third straight Ivy League title.

Senior Katie McEachern was tabbed as Field Player of the Year and was named to the Preseason All-Ivy First team. This comes after McEachern posted a league best batting average of .447 and led the Ancient Eight in homeruns with 10.

Senior Morgan McCalmon was named Pitcher of the Year and grabbed First Team honors after recording a 2.14 ERA good for fourth in the Ivy League in 2015. The Big Green will rely on McCalmon after losing the league's best pitcher, Kristen Rumley to graduation.

Also earning First Team honors were juniors Maddie Damore and Karen Chaw.

Damore finished the 2015 campaign batting .293 with 27 RBI's and six home runs. Chaw also found success last year, batting .316 and driving in 30 runs. She was second in the Ivy League behind McEachern in homers with seven.

The Big Green open the season in Mobile, Alabama on Fri. Feb. 26 against Wichita State.
