BOSTON – Several members of the Dartmouth women's track & field team competed at Boston University's Valentine Invitational Friday night.
The biggest moment of the day came when Jennifer Meech ran a 53.97 to take sixth in a field of 196 individuals running in the 400m. That time was a new school record on the women's side in the 400, eclipsing the old mark of 54.45 set by Catherine Brew '87 three decades ago.
Meech also bested her previous best mark in the event (54.88) by nearly a full second in the process, jumping from second to first in program history.
The senior was also 13th in the 200m, posting a 24.35.
Another highlight of the day came in one of the later events as Bridget O'Neill claimed second in the 1000m, running a 2:47.74. Her time was just two-tenths of a second off first place in an event that featured nearly 90 other entrants.
In the 500m, Aliyah Gallup was fourth and Marissa Evans was eighth, respectively. Gallup won her section in 1:14.43 with Evans claiming third in the same heat with a 1:14.92.
The 60m hurdles saw Abby Feeney run an 8.95 to take 16th.
Helen Schlactenhaufen was 27th in the mile with a 4:52.66, while Grace Thompson won her section in 4:54.28 to claim 30th overall.
The meet is non-scoring.
