HANOVER, N.H. — Since the 2015-16 season opened, Dartmouth freshman
Evan Boudreaux had won the Ivy League's Rookie of the Week award every other week like clockwork. This week he bucked that trend to take home the honor for a second straight week and the eighth time this season, tying a conference record.
Boudreaux, a 6-8 forward from Lake Forest, Illinois, registered a pair of double-doubles to help the Big Green split a pair of home games over the weekend, dropping a 75-65 contest to league-leading Yale on Friday before trouncing Brown on Saturday evening, 87-70.
Against the Bulldogs, Boudreaux provided 21 points on 7-of-15 shooting with a pair of three-pointers and a perfect 5-of-5 at the foul line to go with his 10 rebounds. Dartmouth led for most of the first 33 minutes, but Yale pulled away over the final seven. The next night, Boudreaux tallied 25 points on 9-of-16 from the floor while hauling in 13 boards to lead the Big Green in both categories for the seventh straight contest as they snapped a five-game skid. Seventeen of his 25 points came in the second half, allowing Dartmouth to keep the Bears at arm's length and never threaten to rally.
For the two games, Boudreaux shot 51.6 percent (16-of-31) overall and 42.9 percent (3-of-7) from long range while hitting all but one free throw (11-of-12, .917). He averaged 23.0 points and 11.5 rebounds, plus dished out three assists and stole the ball once. In the eight Ivy League games to date, he is second in scoring (21.0 ppg) and first in both rebounding (10.8 rpg) and free throw percentage (.904, 47-of-52).
Two other Ivy League players garnered the Rookie of the Week award eight times — Penn's Michael Jordan (1996-97) and Cornell's Adam Gore (2005-06).
Dartmouth (8-14, 2-6 Ivy) hits the road this weekend to play at Cornell on Friday and Columbia on Saturday. Both games will be streamed live on the Ivy League Digital Network and tip off at 7 p.m.
Notes: Boudreaux is third in the Ivy League in both scoring (17.5 ppg) and rebounding (9.1 rpg) for all games … he has scored in double figures in 19 of the 22 games to date, topping 20 seven times with a season high of 27 at Penn on Feb. 5 … Dartmouth has had a total of nine Rookie of the Week honors this season with
