HAMILTON, N.Y. – The Dartmouth women's hockey team ended the 2015-16 season with a 1-0 loss to No. 10 Colgate at Starr Rink on Saturday evening. The Big Green concluded the year with a 6-19-3 over record and 6-13-3 in ECAC Hockey play, while the Raiders improved to 20-7-7 and 12-5-5 in conference play.
Freshman Christie Honor played her first complete game in net, stopping an impressive 34 shots throughout the contest.
Dartmouth had a number of opportunities at a goal, but the closest one was midway through the second when senior Lindsey Allen's slapshot from the top of the right circle banked off the pipe. Freshman Kate Landers took a stab at it a few minutes late, firing multiple shots at netminder Ashlynne Rando from inside the crease, but the goalie was able to corral the puck relatively quickly. Senior Laura Stacey was a force to be reckoned with, taking four dangerous shots throughout the second period alone.
The Green survived being down two players in the early stages of the third to keep the game scoreless, managing to prevent too many shots during that time. At 4:41, after almost 45 minutes of scoreless action, Colgate got on the board when Breanne Wilson-Bennett found the back of the net by pocketing Bailey Larson's rebounded shot.
With five minutes remaining, Honor went one-on-one against Shelby Perry, who got past the Dartmouth defense and headed straight for the Green freshman. Perry took a chance at trying to sneak it behind the goalie's right leg, but Honor was able to make the save.
The Raiders outshot the Green, 35-32. Dartmouth held Colgate to 0-for-5 on the power play.
