Four Dartmouth Women Heading to NCAA East Regional

HANOVER, N.H. – The entry lists for the 2016 NCAA Track & Field East Regional were announced on Thursday afternoon and on the list were the names of four members of the Dartmouth women's team.

Dana Giordano, Jennifer Meech, Kaitlin Whitehorn and Helen Schlachtenhaufen will all be heading to Jacksonville next weekend to compete for a shot to represent the Big Green at nationals in June.

The meet will run between May 26-28 at the University of Florida's Hodges Stadium. To qualify for the regional meet, an individual must post a time or mark that is in the top 48 over the course of the outdoor season.

Giordano and Schlactenhaufen are both going in the 1500m, while Meech will run in the 400m and Whitehorn will once again look to excel in the high jump.

The preliminaries of the 1500m are set for 5:30 p.m. on Thursday with Meech to follow in the 400m at 7:20 p.m. Whitehorn's shot at nationals and a bid for a second straight All-American performance during outdoor season begins on Friday at 5 p.m.

Were Meech to advance, her second race would come on Friday at 6 p.m., while Giordano and Schlactenhaufen would run again following a qualifying on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
