EUGENE, Ore. – Recent Dartmouth graduate Kaitlin Whitehorn '16 advanced to the final of the high jump at the 2016 U.S. Track & Field Olympic Trials Friday evening at Oregon's Hayward Field.
Just shy of three weeks removed from a third-place finish and All-America First Team recognition at the same venue during the NCAA Outdoor Championship, Whitehorn cleared 6-0.5/1.84m on her second attempt to place sixth through the first day of competition.
Whitehorn and the other 11 competitors who advanced to the final will compete Sunday at 6:15 p.m. EDT with the hopes of punching their ticket to Rio and the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.
Also competing on Friday night was Megan Krumpoch '14 in the preliminaries of the 800m. Krumpoch — who earned also earned First-Team All-America at Hayward as a senior in 2014 — was sixth in her heat with a 2:05.35, missing out on a chance to move on to the semifinals.
Kaitlin Whitehorn matches her PR of 1.84 (6-0.5) to advance to the Olympic trials high jump final on Sunday!
