SATURDAY'S GAME
The No. 20 Dartmouth men's soccer team hosts Columbia in a battle for first place in the Ivy League on Saturday night.
SCOUTING THE LIONS
Columbia enters the game with a 6-1-3 record and 2-0-1 in conference play after playing to a 0-0 tie at Princeton last weekend. Arthur Bosua is leading the Lions' offense with six goals and four assists, he is also leading the conference in shots, shots per game, points and goals per game. Dylan Castanheira has played all 10 games at keeper for Columbia, recording six shutouts and a league-high .879 save percentage with 29 saves.
LAST TIME AGAINST COLUMBIA
Last October the Big Green traveled to New York and came out with a 1-0 win. Justin Donawa scored the lone goal in the 71st minute to take the lead. Former keeper James Hickok recorded three saves, ensuring the win for Dartmouth which was necessary to remain in first place in the conference. Dartmouth holds the series lead 29-22-7 and has won the matchup against Columbia the last three seasons.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green are coming off a 4-2 midweek loss to No. 18 New Hampshire on the road. Senior Matt Danilack scored the first goal for Dartmouth in the 36th minute and took the 1-0 lead into halftime, but the Wildcats came out firing in the second half. After three unanswered goals, freshman Dawson McCartney found the back of the net in the 84th minute. New Hampshire scored again in the 88th extending the lead and eventually taking the win.
TAKING THE LEAD
Dartmouth jumped into the United Soccer Coaches Poll this week at No. 20 and is tied with Columbia for first place in the Ivy League. This is the first time the team has been ranked since 2015. While Lion's Bosua is leading the conference in several categories, members of the Big Green are also sitting atop the statistics. Junior Eduvie Ikoba is leading the league in goals per game with .60 and is tied with Bosua for first in goals as they both have six, while Donawa is first in assists and assists per game
GUARDING THE NET
Freshman keeper Christopher Palacios is holding down the fort for the Big Green with a 7-2-1 record and 15 saves, boasting a league-leading six shutouts and a 0.73 goals against average.
