Their efforts are rewarded by being named the Hanover Brick and Brew Athletes of the Week.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Hanover Brick and Brew Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.
Rebecca McElvain, So., San Diego, Calif., Sailing
Charles Lalumiere, Sr., Falmouth, Maine, Sailing
Both Charles Lalumiere and Rebecca McElvain were members of the Big Green team that took first in the Lynne Marchiando Team Race. The victory was Dartmouth's first interconference team race victory since 2002, when the Big Green took first in the Ted Ferrarone Team Race, a second tier national event. Saturday brought wind and snowy conditions for sailors, but Dartmouth was able to go undefeated in the first round robin of the regatta. On Sunday, the weather improved with a light, but sailable wind. Again, the Big Green performed well dropping just two races enroute to the victory. For their efforts, Lalumiere and McElvain were also honored as NEISA Sailors of the Week.
