Men's Tennis
vs Dartmouth Invite #1

HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth men's tennis team defeated Yale, 4-1, at the Boss Tennis Center on Friday afternoon to get its first Ivy League win of the season. The Big Green improved to 8-11 and 1-1 in conference play, while the Bulldogs dipped to 15-5 and 1-1.
“Today's match was a great response from our team after last Sunday's match in which we didn't do the things we pride ourselves on to the best of our ability,” head coach Chris Drake said. “Our guys believed in their games and stayed the course whether they were ahead, behind, or even in their individual matches. When we do that collectively, we are a tough team to beat and we can beat good teams like Yale. We played together as one cohesive team today.”
Dartmouth started the day off well by winning at the No. 2 and 3 positions. Senior George Wall and freshman David Horneffer took down Stefan Doehler and Dylan King, 6-3, at the No. 2 spot, while junior Max Fliegner and freshman Charlie Broom defeated Tyler Lu and Photos Photiades, 6-2, on court three.
With a one-point lead, Horneffer made it 2-0 with his 6-3, 6-2 defeat of Doehler at the No. 4 spot. Lu – ranked No. 60 in the most recent ITA National Rankings – picked up Yale's only point at the top spot, but a win by Fliegner at the No. 3 position and a slightly closer victory by Wall on court five clinched the match for the Big Green.
On Sunday, April 9, Dartmouth will travel to Providence to face Brown.
