HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth and Penn entered Saturday's contest at Burnham Field tied for first place in the Ivy League. When all was said and done, it was the Quakers who remained at the top of the standings, defeating the Big Green, 1-0. The Penn goal came in the 51st minute.

Dartmouth (7-4-2, 2-1-1 Ivy) outshot Penn (10-1-1, 3-0-1 Ivy) 14-11 and 7-4 on goal. The Big Green held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.

 "This was a tough Ivy League contest, credit to Penn on scoring a solid restart goal," said head coach
Ron Rainey. "we responded well and created some nice chances but just could not level the score. We look forward to the opportunity to compete against Marist on Monday."Â

Mariel Gordon saw her first action early in the match, the goalkeeper picked up her first save in the sixth minute. Penn continued to put the pressure in the middle minutes of the half.
In the final five minutes, Dartmouth had two corner kicks and two shots that did not find the back of the net, making it scoreless at the half.

Penn scored just six minutes into the second half. A corner kick from Emma Loving found the head of Megan Lloyd who sent it in for her first career goal.

Dartmouth took control from then on out. The Big Green finished the match with nine shots, including six of those on goal as the clock wound down. Dartmouth could not find the goal before the clock hit zeros and dropped its first Ivy League game of the season.

The Big Green have a quick turnaround for their next match at Burnham Field, they play their final non-conference game of the regular season on Monday at 6 p.m. against Marist.
