HANOVER, N.H. — The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced the members of its Google Cloud Academic All-America teams for Division I today (combined for FBS and FCS schools), and Dartmouth linebacker
David Emanuels earned a spot on the second team. He is the 19th Big Green football Academic All-America selection in program history and first since linebacker Michael Runger made the second team five years ago.
Hailing from Mercer Island, Washington, Emanuels is a biomedical engineering major with a 3.96 GPA who played in all 10 games while starting seven times. The 6-1, 225-pound senior finished the season third on the Big Green with 51 tackles, including a career-high 11 in a 35-24 victory at Cornell. He was an integral part of a Dartmouth defense that ranks third nationally in fewest points allowed (12.0 per game), third against the run (79.7 yards allowed per game) and fifth in total defense (280.4 ypg). Among his 51 stops were 2.5 tackles for a loss, and Emanuels forced one of four recovered fumbles in the Big Green's first win over Harvard in 15 years.
Emanuels was one of just two Ivy Leaguers among the players listed on the two teams, joined by Harvard defensive lineman Alex White.
Dartmouth, ranked 15th in the most recent AFCA FCS Coaches' Poll and 18th in the STATS FCS poll, finished the season 9-1 overall and 6-1 in the Ivy league to place second in the standings.
