HANOVER, N.H. – Going up against Brown in its Ivy League opener Saturday night, the Dartmouth women's soccer team shut out the Bears, 2-0, on Burnham Field. It was the first time since 2013 that the Big Green came away with a victory over Brown.
Â
The Big Green improve to 5-3-1 and 1-0-0 in the Ivy League, while Brown falls to 4-5-1 and 0-1-0 in the conference. Saturday's win marks the third straight victory for Dartmouth. The Big Green were outshot 14-6, but each side had three shots on goal.

Sophomore
Bonnie Shea scored the first goal of the game in the 5th minute off an assist from a corner kick by junior
Zoe Boocock. Senior
Remy Borinsky picked up her fourth goal of the season in the 89th minute to shut the door on the Brown attack. Sophomore goalkeeper
Mariel Gordon finished with three saves, securing her fourth shutout of the year and was a force in front of the net.
Â
"I'm very proud with the way that we came out and played tonight and for the way that we prepared this week to be ready to go against a good team like Brown," said head coach
Ron Rainey. "It is great that we were able to begin our Ivy League schedule with a win and we are excited for next week."
Â
It did not take long for Dartmouth to get on the scoreboard. On their first offensive push, the Big Green earned a corner kick in the 5th minute that was taken by Boocock who placed it perfectly for Shea to head it in and make it 1-0 Dartmouth. Brown could not answer for the remainder of the half as Dartmouth went into the break with the lead.
Â
The Bears came into the second half with a much more aggressive mindset. They let off the first seven shots of the half and controlled the possession until the 68th minute. After both teams went back-and-forth with no scoring, the Big Green needed some insurance as the Bears were clamping down. Borinsky took it upon herself and made a move to get past the defender and shot it through the legs of the keeper to make it 2-0 and seal the win in the 89th minute.

Dartmouth continues its Ivy League schedule as they travel to Princeton on Saturday to take on the Tigers at 4 p.m.
