HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth women's rugby freshman
Ale Ada was named the 2018 Guam Sports Network (GSPN) Athlete of the Year.
Ada is the youngest athlete of the year winner and just the second female winner in the history of the award.
The Sinajana, Guam, native wrapped up her first season in Hanover fourth on the team with 30 points from six tries. Her first multi-try performance of her career came in the 26-20 victory over Army West Point, after which she was named the Dartmouthsports.com Female Athlete of the Week.
The Big Green had their best season to date in 2018, starting the season on a six-match winning streak before falling to Harvard in the Ivy Rugby Championship. Dartmouth rebounded to take down Brown and Army in the NIRA quarterfinal and semifinal, advancing to the final for the second year in a row. In a rematch of the top two teams in the country, the Green defeated Harvard, 19-14, to win their first-ever NIRA National Championship title.
