Henry Baldwin scored his second goal of the season
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – A first minute goal and two more in the second half was too much to come back from as Yale came away with a 3-1 win Saturday night at Reese Field. Henry Baldwin scored in the 58th minute but that was all Dartmouth could put together.
The Big Green drop to 4-5-1 and 1-1-0 in the Ivy League and continue their road struggles, while the Bulldogs remain undefeated with a 7-0-2 record and are 2-0-0 in the conference.
Despite the loss, Dartmouth outshot Yale, 13-10 and 7-5 on goal.
Yale quickly got on the board just 58 seconds into the match on an own goal. The Bulldogs earned a free kick and the ball was deflected off a Dartmouth defender's foot and found the back of the net.
The Big Green finished the first half with five out of the final eight shots, including three on goal by Mothibi Penn-Kekana in the sixth minute, Clayton Molter in the 36th minute and Penn Kekana again in the 42nd minute.
After a Dartmouth foul set up a free kick for Yale in the 50th minute, Mark Winhoffer sent a perfect cross that found the head of Enzo Okpoye who sent the ball in the goal.
The Bulldogs struck again four minutes later. On a corner kick in the 54th minute, Winhoffer took it upon himself and launched the ball over Alex Budnik's head to make it 3-0 Yale.
Dartmouth did not go quietly. in the 58th minute, Dawson McCartney sent a free kick towards the goal that eventually found Henry Baldwin who scored to make it a two-goal deficit. The Big Green then outshot Yale 7-2 in the final 31 minutes.
