The Big Green received 47 points from conference media members
HANOVER, N.H. – The Ivy League announced the results of its women's basketball preseason poll Wednesday with the Big Green slotted to finish tied for sixth.
The top teams in the poll were voted to finish strikingly similar to where they finished last season. Two-time defending champion Princeton along with Penn were tied for first place with 125 points, the only thing separating them were 10 first-place votes for the Tigers and seven for the Quakers.
Harvard checked in at third place with 95 points, while Yale was predicted to snag the final tournament spot with 90 points. Rounding out the poll was Cornell in fifth (60), Columbia and Dartmouth tied for sixth (47) and Brown in eighth (23).
The Big Green fell one game shy of reaching the Ivy League tournament in 2018-19, finishing with a 13-14 record and 6-8 in the conference. Returning seniors are Annie McKenna (7.1 ppg, 3.6 apg), Kealy Brown (6.6 ppg, 31. rpg) and Paula Lenart (6.3 ppg, 7.0 rpg).
Juniors Anna Luce (6.7 ppg, 3.7 rpg) and Elle Louie (5.0 ppg, 3.5 rpg) will see significant playing time, while sophomores Katie Douglas (4.7 ppg, 1.3 rpg), Jimena Abejon, Asha Taylor, Georgia Alexander and Veronica Kelly will see action as well.
Four freshmen have been added to the roster. Karina Mitchell, Allie Harland and Emma Koch are guards, while Kaiyah Corona adds depth at the forward position.
The Big Green begin their season on Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. against Vermont at Leede Arena.
