THIS WEEK
The Dartmouth women's hockey team will be on the road on Tuesday, heading north for a non-conference game against Vermont.
LAST TIME OUT
CC Bowlby,
Catherine Trevors and
Gabby Billing each posted two points in Dartmouth's season debut at Thompson Arena on Friday.
A high-scoring game, the Big Green were bested by visiting Harvard, 7-4, in the 2019-20 season opener for both teams.
A third-period hat trick from the Crimson's Kristin Della Rovere was the difference in the ECAC Hockey and Ivy League game despite the home team's resurgent play throughout the night.
Both Bowlby and Trevors scored a goal and dished out an assist in their first collegiate game, while Billing was credited with a pair of helpers.
The Green and White fell behind 3-0 in the opening 10 minutes of the first period, a deficit that lasted through the end of the frame and more than halfway through the middle stanza.
That's when they began to chip away at the Crimson lead. Trevors started the scoring for the home team with the first of her career at 12:20.
Jennifer Costa made it a 3-2 game as she scored her first of the year just under three minutes later. However, Harvard halted the home team's run with its fourth of the game a minute and a half after to push the lead back to a pair, 4-2.
Currie Putrah was another freshman to find the back of the net in her debut, scoring 1:31 into the third period to once again pull Dartmouth to within a goal.
Della Rovere then notched the first of her three third-period goals to put the game all but out of reach midway through the frame. Bowlby made it 6-4 with her first in the final minute only to see Della Rovere answer back for the hat trick just 16 seconds later to cap the game's scoring at 11 combined goals.
Rookie
Hannah Humphreys turned aside 21 shots in her Dartmouth debut in the blue paint. At the other end of the ice, Lindsey Reed stopped 17 in the win.
Harvard was 1-for-3 on the power play, while the home team was unable to score in four opportunities.
SCOUTING THE CATAMOUNTS
Vermont enters Tuesday's contest with an overall record of 3-1-4. The Catamounts are coming off their first road weekend since the beginning of October, a two-game series against Merrimack. The teams tied the first game, 4-4, before Vermont won the second the following day by a score of 6-2.
Two players have made it to double-digit points; Sini Karjalainen is first (2-10-12), while Val Caldwell is close behind (4-6-10).
LAST TIME AGAINST VERMONT
On Nov. 6, 2018,
Tess Bracken scored twice as the Big Green defeated the Catamounts, 3-1.
After five games away from Hanover to start the 2018-19 season, Tuesday's non-conference tilt marked the home opener for Dartmouth at Thompson Arena.
INSIDE THE SERIES
The Big Green are 38-6-0 in the all-time series as they head into their 45th meeting between the teams.
Dartmouth is 2-3-0 in the last five meetings but is 9-3-0 going back to 2007.
BETWEEN THE PIPES
Having started both of the Green's preseason games,
Hannah Humphreys opened her collegiate career on Friday against Harvard. She made 21 saves during her first game in a green and white jersey.
