Dartmouth outshot the Catamounts, 21-9
HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth men's soccer suffered a 1-0 loss to Vermont at Burnham Field Tuesday night. Alex Nagy scored in the 63rd minute to propel the Catamounts to the win.
The Big Green fall to 4-4-1 and have their home unbeaten streak of 23 matches come to an end, while the Catamounts improve to 6-4-0 and defeat Dartmouth for the first time since 2008.
Dartmouth controlled the time of possession for the majority of the match and outshot Vermont, 21-9, with a 14-4 advantage in the second half.
Opportunities came in bunches for the Big Green. Midway through the first half, Tiger Graham and Jordan Bailon each had clean looks on goal, but UVM's keeper Aron Runarsson made the stop on both attempts.
Clayton Molter got by his defender in front of the net in the final seconds before halftime, but again, the Catamount's goalie came through to keep the game scoreless after the first 45 minutes.
The Big Green had four straight shots in the 54th minute. Molter had the best look but his shot was saved.
Vermont took advantage of its first shot of the second half when Frosti Brynjolfsson raced to the right side of the goal and crossed the ball to Nagy who sent a grounder to the bottom-left corner of the net for the game winner.
Dartmouth ripped off six shots and had a corner kick in the final seven minutes of action but could not convert the equalizer.
The Big Green will reset for a key Ivy League matchup at undefeated Yale on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
