HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth equestrian team hosted the last of its two home shows of the fall season on Saturday at Morton Farm. The Big Green claimed first place in a field of 13 teams with UNH and UVM trailing behind.
The day was off to a strong start with captain
Sophie Lenihan winning her Open Fences class and later also winning her Open Flat class making her the High Point Rider of the competition.
Following her, sophomore
Claire Azar also had a strong showing in Open Flat class that led her to victory. Senior
Meghan Poth was very successful in her Intermediate Flat class taking home a first-place finish. Sophomore
Tori Bergstein also had a beautiful ride in Limit Flat and secured top placing in her class. With her first-place finish in Limit Flat, Bergstein qualified for Regionals and pointed up into Intermediate Flat.
Co-captain
Alexa Tucker also had a strong ride in the Novice division, claiming second place. Freshman
Melody Fu had a great performance in her Pre-Novice class taking home second place. Sophomore
Maria Roodnitsky closed the show with an important second place in her Introductory class leading the team to its second victory in a row. Sophomores
Sophie Kylander and
Sophia Arana also earned third in their respective classes of Limit Fences and Pre-Novice.

NEW LONDON, N.H. - The Dartmouth Equestrian Team competed on Sunday at Colby Sawyer in the last of its fall season shows. The Big Green faced tough competition and Northeastern University took home the top team placings of the show.
Captain
Sophie Lenihan rode beautifully, finishing in first place in both of her Open Fences and Open Flat classes making her undefeated for the entire weekend. The story of the weekend was that Lenihan also took home High Point Rider for the Colby Sawyer show, making her High Point Rider and the top competitor of two consecutive shows which is extremely rare in Equestrian IHSA shows. Following her, sophomore
Claire Azar was in the running for Reserve High Point Rider with a second place finish in Open Fences and a first place finish in Open Flat.
Later in the day, Junior
Nancy Curtis added a fantastic ride in Intermediate Fences, winning her first ever class in the Intermediate division. Sophomore
Sophie Kylander also had a beautiful ride in Limit Flat and won her division. Sophomore
Tori Bergstein also demonstrated a fantastic performance in both her Intermediate Fences and Intermediate Flat class taking home 2nd place in both.
Junior
Shira Hornstein had a great ride in Limit Flat and finished with 3rd place with freshmen
Melody Fu also demonstrating great rides throughout the weekend with a third place finish in Pre-Novice. Co-captain and senior
Alexa Tucker also qualified for Regionals in the Novice division after her third place finish in her Novice class on Sunday. Freshman
Leah Branstetter also had strong performances in both her Limit Flat and Limit Fences class taking home a third place finish in each.
With a tight race for the top three spots in the region, the Big Green is looking to train hard over the winter and secure the Regional Championship spot in the spring.
