HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth softball coach
Jen Williams has announced the full schedule for the upcoming 2020 season. The slate features trips to South Carolina, Florida and California and meetings with national powers Virginia Tech and Kentucky.
Â
The season opens at the Holy City Showdown in Charleston, S.C. (Feb. 21-23). The Big Green will immediately be put to the test as they open the year against Virginia Tech, who finished last season as the No. 22 ranked team in the country. Dartmouth also plays the College of Charleston, Army, Ohio and North Carolina A&T in the tournament.
Â
Dartmouth will then head further south for The Spring Games in Longwood, Fla. (Feb. 28-Mar. 1). One team from the Sunshine State is on the docket in Florida International. From there, the Big Green face Albany, Western Michigan and Loyola Chicago. The trip wraps up with a meeting against Kentucky, who advanced to the Super Regionals in the 2019 NCAA Tournament.
Â
The Big Green then head to California, where nearly half the members of the team are from. Dartmouth plays two games on Mar. 14 against Idaho State and San Diego in the CSUN/LMU Tournament. The team then plays double-headers at Cal Riverside (Mar. 15) and Cal Baptist (Mar. 16).
Â
Fans will get to see the Big Green for the first time at the Dartmouth Softball Park on Mar. 21-22 for their first Ivy League series against Columbia. Dartmouth will also play in Hanover against Yale (Apr. 4-5), Maine (Apr. 15), Cornell (Apr. 18-19) and Brown (Apr. 25-26).
Â
Road contests take Dartmouth to Penn (Mar. 28-29), Boston College (Apr. 8), defending Ivy League champion Harvard (Apr. 11-12), Merrimack (Apr. 22) and the regular season closes at Princeton (May 2-3).
Â
The top two teams at the end of the regular season will meet in the best-of-three Ivy League Championship Series at the site of the team that sits atop the standings. Dartmouth is aiming to return to the ILCS for the first time since 2018 and the NCAA Tournament since 2015.
