Goals by Graham and McCartney were not enough Tuesday night

ALBANY, N.Y. – Dartmouth men's soccer dug themselves into an early hole Tuesday night at Albany and fell, 4-2. Two second-half goals from Tiger Graham and Dawson McCartney were not enough to close the gap.

The Big Green drop to 3-3-0 with all of their losses coming on the road. The Great Danes even their record at 3-3-1 and collected their first-ever win over Dartmouth.

Dartmouth had the first three of four shots in the early going. Albany fired its first shot in the 14th minute that missed high and Braden Salvati had Dartmouth's best opportunity, but his attempt was saved in the 20th minute.

Goals came in flurries for the Great Danes. Austin DaSilva, Albany's leading scorer, found the back of the net in the 29th minute. Moments later in the 31st minute, a Big Green foul set up a penalty kick for Reid Conde and he extended the lead to 2-0. Jordan Bailon had two shots to close the half, with the second one stopped by a diving save.

Albany opened the second with another pair of quick goals. DaSilva connected on his second of the game in the 48th minute and Haflidi Sigurdarson made it a 4-0 Great Dane advantage in the 53rd minute.

The Big Green started their comeback attempt with no time to spare. Shortly after Kota Sakurai subbed in, he found Graham for Dartmouth's first goal of the night in the 58th minute.

McCartney then cut the Albany lead in half with a 67th minute goal assisted by Bailon. It was the third of the season for the junior. Albany held on to the 4-2 lead as time expired.

Dartmouth is back at Burnham Field next Tuesday at 7 p.m. for a matchup with a strong UConn team.
